In the following publication we propose an enhancement strategy to support the process of acquiring talents to participate in skills competitions at the national and European level and raise the attractiveness of VET. We would like to inspire vocational teachers and trainers, training providers and employers to use skills competitions as a means to boost the structural development of talents and excellence in VET.WeRskills project recommendations are grouped under five main headings:1. Skills Competitions enhance the quality of VET2. Skills Competitions inspire skills excellence in youth3. Skills Competitions may be a hub for the professional development of trainers4. Industry benefits from Skills Competitions5. Skills Competitions deliver value for money

The Best Practices Guide aims to be an explanatory and encouraging tool for VET students, teachers and representatives of the construction industry who would like to take part in international skills competitions. The idea behind the Guide was to look at those competitions from the perspective of VET students, teachers and job coaches from the industry who are interested in competing for excellence and try to guide them on how to join the initiative. The Best Practices Guide answers the question of how to get involved in the skills competitions. It also includes a CASE STUDY of good practices to prove that there are plenty of initiatives across Europe which try to embed the skills competitions in VET.

The following Report constitutes a comparative analysis of the regulations related to the organisation of national skills competitions in Poland, Hungary and Cyprus. The Report innovates the approach to skills competitions. It highlights the similarities as well as the differences between the organizational structures of skills competitions used in different countries. It promotes greater coherence between the procedures and organizations involved in national skills competitions.
